Programme notes

One of the characteristics of the Orquestra Simfònica Camera Musicae over its twelve-year history is its open minded way of doing things differently. We bring together young talent trained in Catalonia through orchestras or soloists, inviting the principal Catalan conductors and soloists is our common practice, something we do with conviction and love for what we call the Res publica – the public ‘thing’, the public sphere. It is with this in mind that makes this programme of overtures and opera arias special for us.

The soprano Sara Blanch, winner of the Concurs de les Corts and other important competitions, such as the Francisco Viñas (where she won 7 prizes in 2016) and the Peralada Festival, she is in great demand. Conductor Edmon Colomer will debut with our Orchestra, presenting two very different pieces in this programme: the first one will show the brilliance of Blanch, focusing on the great successes of the Mozart repertoire; the second aimed at highlighting the Orchestra through the magnitude of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D major. Definitely a win-win.
